bitsy favorite for the itsy...ZIMMERMAN SHOES!

This one really makes us happy.

We're bursting with excitement, ready to share Zimmerman Shoes!

Zimmerman Shoes, an American children’s shoe manufacturer, stole Bitsy’s heart not too long ago. Always in search of the perfect shoe for the minis (that won’t break the bank) we came across Zimmerman and fell deeply, madly in love. We’re addicted and asked them to show us their ways. As if their product wasn’t enough to capture our hearts, the story behind the company really won us over.

Zimmerman Shoes is owned and operated by two “goofball” (their word, not ours!) sisters, Audrey + Amelia. They created the company to honor their shoe-making heritage (their great-grandfather Milo bought Kepner Scott, a children’s shoe manufacturing facility in 1962 as a retirement project. He then turned the failing company around in just two years by discovering a lighter, more flexible sole for children’s shoes. Hallelujah, thank you Milo!! Kepner Scott is presently the oldest children’s shoe manufacturing company in the country and is still run by Audrey + Amelia’s third-generation shoe-maker Dad and Aunt.). Audrey + Amelia pour their passion into Zimmerman Shoes daily and boy does it show. They have been lucky to “grow up in the business” and to this day their Dad and Aunt act as mentors and consultants to Zimmerman. Zimmerman Shoes’ story is just too good not to share. After having the privilege of getting to know Audrey + Amelia and everything Zimmerman Shoes, Bitsy wants to be a part of their family and think you will as well!

As for the shoes – we feel they speak for themselves. Classic with a subtle modern twist (or as they put it, “Heritage footwear for modern kids”), Zimmermans are an absolute must have addition to your peanut’s closet. Audrey + Amelia have updated styles from the 1960s and 1970s with fresh colors and new leathers. Fit, form and flexibility are a main focus so your little one will be able to conquer their adventures. Lucy will be sporting the ever-so-delicate 1987 Scalloped Mary Jane (pictured below) this fall and winter. Stay tuned because you will be seeing a lot them in the upcoming seasons on Bitsy! After all, Zimmerman Shoes have walked the catwalks of Kids Fashion Week - we had to get ourselves a piece :).

Audrey, Amelia + Co. embody modern cool while sticking to their timeless roots. To us, this is what it means to have it all. A family-operated, American company with heart + “sole” (tee hee) and an incredible product. Right on, right on!

As we said earlier, we’re addicted. Take a peek below at Bitsy's picks from their fall 2015 collection. For more product and information visit their site - ZIMMERMAN SHOES. There is lots more to learn about this fabulous company + collection!

Here is their nephew Milo (oh so delicious!) in their Stevie sandal:
