S.T.E.A.M.

Five words you want your child/ren to grasp, learn, understand, but mostly have fun while engaging. Bitsy came across an innovative children’s STEM-focused company that is going to blow your mind. We’re sharing KiwiCo. with you today to motivate you and your little ones into learning, fun projects and keeping busy (did we say while learning?!)! Kiwi Co. was created by educators, makers and engineers to bring today’s child an exciting approach to science, technology, engineering, art and math. They neatly and passionately create amazing experiences in all of these categories for children of ages 0-16(+!). Experiences like making and assembling your own light up wire art and a “fun with flight” experience where they are able to create their own funny-face paper kites that really fly! One of the projects that that Bitsy has its eye on and really WOWS us is the one that allows you to build and fire a real, functioning trebuchet that launches a ping-pong ball up to 10 feet. Yup. Mind blown!

Finger Puppets

Lucy’s birthday is coming up (soon 😁) and we’ve started the planning. So, as we think through our favorite gifts, we decided to motivate you today with another great birthday gift idea. Lu’s birthday wish list is more detailed this year, as she will be turning 8, so the pressure is kind of off to get super creative. However, we always like to surprise our girls with something a little more personal, more special from Mike and myself. We know you know at this point how much Bitsy loves Pinhole Press so bare with us as we share yet another great (inexpensive) gift option for kiddos that will really show you love them. And, best of all, this gift creates imaginative play for hours. Our girls adore them and frequently I will find them on their own playing with them, creating stories and characters and scenarios that would spark an interest in play in even the crankiest kid! Introducing…

Procrastination

Everyone gets overwhelmed. But how do you come out of it? I usually crawl into a hole for a few days. Then I come out of it, but only a little. It usually then takes on the form of inspiration boards, sourcing product + ideas and making lists. (OH, and driving my hubs crazy hee hee). Truth is, we've had such a world-wind few months and now that our lives are in more order it has been quite tough getting back on our regular schedule! I've been feeling a bit un-motivated myself and needed a rest, then a push. Does this happen to you? This weekend I made a big push in piecing together

NYC with Kids

We’ve received lots of asks about things to do in NYC with the little munchkins. Whether it be a day visit or a whole weekend, we head into the City all the time with Lucy + Greer. One of my favorite trips to NYC throughout the year is my birthday trip in April/May. Every time we start planning a jaunt in I set our family up with a simple plan: Find a fun | different activity, a fun place to eat + an…

Dining Room Reno

We’ve been working hard to get each room in our farmhouse renovation checked off of the list. Its been challenging since Mike and I have been doing a lot of the work for the reno ourselves and to-dos in different rooms hit the priority list that inhibit us from completing one actual room. For instance, our music cabinet in our family room is still not built. Truthfully, we thought that would have been the first thing Mike completed! Holidays, events and life have kept our list on its own track, despite

Motivation Monday at its finest….
Oh boy do we have something FUN to motivate you on this SNOW DAY Monday! We recently paired up with Stefanie Jones of The Realistic Organizer for some home organization projects. Today, we’re sharing all about Stefanie and her amazing company as well as how she transformed a tricky space in our new Living Room built-ins into a tip-top establishment. Before and afters that will leave you saying HALLELUJAH!

It is a known thing that I like to organize. I get such a high off of sorting, purging and re-organizing. Lately, however, we have been so overwhelmed with our renovations that those fun, little projects have become a burden. Enter Stefanie, THE Realistic Organizer.

Namaste + Little Yogis

We recently came across a show on the Amazon Prime app called Cosmic Kids Yoga. Our girls are obsessed with it. Like, ask to do yoga before breakfast obsessed. So since they’ve been consistent with this show and really enjoy doing yoga together along with Jaime, the host, we decided to gift them their own yoga mats. Lucy is obsessed with owls and Greer loves anything with birds, so we chose these mats for them…

Mudroom Confessions

I feel like everything has been coming back to our recent farmhouse renovation! Truth be told, the reno really gave us a chance to re-think our processes as a family and get our day-to-day routine back on track. When we lived in our old house we had very limited space, especially downstairs. As Lucy started Kindergarten, the paperwork coming home and her backpack/lunch box/coats/hats/gloves/STUFF just overwhelmed our space and really took over our downstairs. A friend had given me the tip to purchase this Magnetic Wall Folder. It was a place we kept the important papers Lucy and I would need to access frequently (like the letter day rotation schedule, lunch menus,

1st Birthday Paintings

We struggle with finding the right, cool art for our home that not only goes with our aesthetic/decor, but has meaning and isn’t $1M! Finding something we actually WANT to look at all the time that makes us happy for any particular reason. In our old house we were building our collection as we started to build our family so naturally we had a lot of walls to fill.

Storing Children's Art + School Work!

I used to be a saver. I saved evvvverything. After our recent move and reno, however, my perspective has completely changed. The moving and storing and sorting of all of this “stuff” created such a burden on us all. There are things my mom saved that I so appreciate. Heck, that is the reason Bitsy ever came to be! So recently there has become this fine line - we thin ourselves out from the things that we really dont need, but save (and use!) the things that bring us great joy. And maybe we can even incorporate those things into our home’s decor and our daily lives. Here’s my system…

Art Cart Organization!

Things were getting out of hand. Every time my girls wanted to color (not even take on a big art project) I was getting stressed. There was no system. And the clean up would be too much for us all. I already had the great coloring mat idea (you can find that here), but I needed a place for that to live along with all of their markers and other mediums. I was stressed, they were stressed and the worst part was that my kids didn’t have their creative outlet when they were home.
